ALTERHELD ooc, Anyone can reply; only one for now, might pick up more ppl later. try to lead towards leaving the town center and walking, or something. |
Alterheld sat in a chair, outside his shop, on the east side of the town square. It was a beautiful day: the sun was just rising in the south, and a clean feeling was in the air. The morning mist was heavy, and felt very refreshing. As Alterheld picked up his current project, he thought of the item's history. He normally loved working on his gadgets outside, but today was different - he had the spirit of adventure in him. . He had been working day in and out on the abundance of projects that were brought in by citizens around town over the past week. Something that was given to him to fix, just last night, was on his mind. It was a telescope - he had read about them in the past, but never saw one until then. . Walking back into his shop, Alterheld decided to sway form his normality and put the gadget he had in his hands on his workbench, and walked over to the case with the telescope in it. It was in a dark blue, velvet-like sleeve to keep it safe. He unsheathed the long, heavy item and held it with both his hands. Peering into it's golden finish, he just stood and thought of all the wonders it had seen. Alterheld looked into the lense and noticed that it was very fuzzy when he turned the mirrors a certain way. "I can totally fix this," he thought, with his normal cocky behaviorism. . An hour or so passed, with him hovered over the device - meticulously taking every piece off and putting it aside on the workbench. After reviewing all the parts, the problem was found: a large scratch on one of the lenses that pulls light from the main mirror. He knew that this wouldn't be easy to replace, but knew there had to be a way. . Another hour passed, during which Alterheld took every measurement possible of the scratched lens. He had also set up a workstation in the front of his shop, to continue the creation of the replacement there. After making the glass ball that he would grind down the correct size, he proceeded outside. Within the hour, the new lens was ready to be put back in the telescope. . The day was still just starting, a few hours before mid-day, and Alterheld was outside finishing the last few steps in reconstructing the device. "I definitely need to test this out before giving it back to the client," he realized, thinking of a place to go to do so. . "With this," not meaning to speak aloud, he exlaimed, "I could chase the stars!"

Ren stalked along the canopy a grocer's shop in the west end of the town square. He hooks his feet into the railing which lined the tarp and then flung his torso over the railing when the shopkeeper turned his head. He quickly scooped up a handful or breads and fruits from the crates that lined the shops surface. Flexing at the knees he swung back up, hauling himself upright with a grin as he scrambles to his feet. A quick hop carried him from the tarp to the roof of the adjourning building. He strolls along the roof with a cocky grin, eying all of the fresh goodies he had acquired. He starts eating, devouring the food as only someone who hadn't eaten in the past 3 days could. Why did he always forget to eat at times? He figured he was too busy fighting this, or stealing that to be bothered to remember every little detail, right? Right. He belches, satisfied with himself and the meal, humming to himself as he walked, eventually singing quietly. "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me... " He stalks along the rooftops, watching the people wander around down below in the town square. He kicks some pebbles from the roofs at them, moving quickly so they wouldn't spot him, doing it again every couple of buildings. He slows to a stop for a minute, spying a gaggle of women perched outside of what he could only assume to be a jewelery shop to hold so many of their attentions at once. He grins to himself, gazing away at the pretty young things, most likely imagining what they'd look like with a bit less clothing, but hey he was a healthy young man, he was allowed to day dream. He'd be concerned if he hadn't stopped to stare. He shakes his head a bit, saving a mental image or two for another time, continuing along the street via the roof-highway, peering down occasionally as he walked. He goes another block or two when the sound of a door opening immediately to his side chimes it's welcome bell. He peers over the roof to see a young man exit the shop, carrying something under his arm as he closes the door behind him. He's about to disregard the man and carry on when he notices the man take only a few steps and then stop to hold out the object he was carrying. Ren moves closer to the side, taking a foothold on the ledge as he stares at the man and at the object. He recognizes from the general shape of the bulk, and the style of the pouch that it must be a spy-glass. He grins to himself as the man declares: "With this, .. I could chase the stars!" He chuckles silently to himself, taking a few quick steps, feet landing on the pole of the sign that hung above the store the mad had come out of. He slinks down, falling and rapidly catching the pole that held the sign with the backs of his legs, curling the knees to wrap around them, like a child hanging from the monkey bars. He swings, falling forward on the sign, knees looping him around, swinging forward, coming upside downed face to face with the man. He quickly snatches the telescope out of the boy's hands, spinning it around in his hands, admiring and examining it. "Well now, I doubt you could chase very much with this glass, not much a mode of transport is it? " he asks, voice laden with lazy sarcasm, but a good natured, non standoffish one. "However, I'd wager you could see the stars pretty well with it, it seems a decent tool. But again, the notion that you could chase anything with it other than a fly away from your food is obscene. " He twirls the object again, shifting his shoulder to keep his bow from slipping off his back, watching both the telescope and the boy, with a goofy grin on his face.
