Much of the time that was spent here was mostly to watch the strange birds and insects fly about the trees. The Orchard was one thing that seemed impossibly wonderful to hide in, seeing that there was many rows. Nothing seemed impossible here, and thats one thing that made this young man feel pleased about it. That didn't stop him from relaxing against a tree, seeing that it was one of the many ways to watch creatures of the wild. The fact that no one was really around made all things possible, seeing that none of the creatures seemed be too bothered.
Sandulf felt pleased at the prospect, knowing that this was going to be just an easy pleasure to like, and that he usually didn't feel too bothered when out alone like this. Some of the birds even landed near him, letting him pet them, and it was a true fact that he loved when the animals did this. It was always a pleasure to feel happy around those that seemed pleased with an easy going person around them. Quiet as it was, Sandulf knew that only time would tell before someone else would come. He just hoped it wasn't soon, seeing that this was a time that he liked, knowing that it would be good for him to deal with it like it is for now.
Notes; Not the best, but I can't think of anything better for now.

Louise wasn't exactly uncomfortable on the rare occasions she found herself back in the settlement. However, she did prefer to spend most of her time outside it. Even when, as now, she was between expeditions, she tended to avoid her fellow humans. Instead, she shuffled her time between paperwork- dull, but proper documentation was necessary in all scientific work- and smaller scale explorations. As she had discovered as a child, it was perfectly possible to go exploring right at home. Today, she found herself pacing the rows upon rows of trees in the orchard.
She had loved the place as a little girl, though it no longer held quite the same appeal. Still, she remembered vividly when it had been her own magical world, full of brand new things to discover. Though those discoveries seemed mundane now, she still remembered the spark of excitement upon discovering a bird's nest, or watching bioluminescent insects flash through the night. She also remembered, a touch ruefully, being kicked out of the place countless times for interfering with the workers. She couldn't help wanting to know everything that they were doing and why, and she was never shy about asking questions.
Today, she had elected to sit on a stable looking tree branch and sketch a nesting blue-tailed juey bird. Though it was a well-known species by now, its curious anatomy interested Louise. Charcoal rubbed all over her hands as she sketched, but she was too preoccupied to notice that it had smeared across her nose. She had captured the three pairs of wings already, and turned to study the minute patterns on the bird's legs. They looked almost furry, though Louise knew that it was only the way the scales blended together that created the effect. She leaned forward a bit, trying to find a better vantage point, but she miscalculated the strength of her branch.
CRACK!
Louise tumbled forward, landing in an undignified heap on the ground. Thankfully, she hadn't been particularly high up in the tree, and was mostly unhurt. She would wake up with a few new bruises, but seemed otherwise unscathed. She stood up slowly, dusting herself off. "Bother!" she said, looking around for her journal. It had to be around there somewhere...
Just then, she noticed a figure standing under a nearby tree. It was unsurprising that she had missed his arrival; Louise's tunnel vision was infamous. When she was focused, nothing else could penetrate into her world.
"Excuse me!" she called, sounding slightly sheepish, "I don't suppose you saw where my journal flew off to?"
